GENERATING AWARENESS ON INDIVIDUAL PREPAREDNESS DURING DISASTERS - ISSUES AND SUGGESTIONS |
Author : Dr. M. Veera Prasad |
Abstract | Full Text |
Abstract :In majority of the cases the disasters are unexpected. The government and several organizations are prepared to some extent to reduce the impact of the disasters since several decades. The services that are provided before and after the disasters occur are multi-dimensional in nature. The individuals especially women, children, physically handicapped, mentally challenged and the senior citizens are the worst affected
in this process. Many of them have the tendency to neglect the advise given by the officials and voluntary organizations to the people to be aware of the consequences of such disasters. The effect of the disasters is very worst when the people lose their lives and property. People usually lack knowledge and training to cope up with the situation of disasters. The education process providing adequate information for individual
preparedness especially in the developing and developed nations is very low. The government in these countries that are affected by many kind of disasters have found themselves in a helpless situation to overcome them effectively mainly due to lack of participation of the people. The disasters can rarely be
prevented but if they happen then the only solution to reduce its impact is individual preparedness through generating awareness among the people by various stakeholders and the people among themselves. On the other hand the government of the country affected by disasters should take all possible steps to face such situations well in advance and the developed and neighbouring countries should play an active role in
supporting each other by doing away all their bitter or strained relations at this juncture. |

Abstract | Full Text |
Abstract :India is 2nd most large populated country in the world, where about 83.3 crore population lives inrural area out of 121 crore As per census 2011, which are main clients of micro finance institutions. Micro finance was started in early 1980’s with formation of informed Self Help Groups (SHGs) to provide financial services to needy. Microfinance institutions (MFI) have been active in remote places specially in Rural India
where commercial banks do not exist till date. Their claim of providing “the last mile connectivity” and that too to the poorer sections is not without basis and this is extremely relevant in the context of the policy thrust on financial inclusion. In several ways, the MFIs complement the commercial banking system. Banks lend the MFIs the money. Since these loans fall in the priority category, the banks have an additional incentive to lend
them. |

Author : Alka |
Abstract | Full Text |
Abstract :Since the middle of the fifties, there has been dramatic swell in the supply of agricultural credit in India accompanied by increase in the base of institutions providing such credit. The green revolution, witnessed in some parts of the country, was facilitated by institutional credit. The financial institutions played a leading role in mobilizing savings and then channelizing these savings for investment into dynamic
economic activities. Several programmes, namely Small Farmers Development Agency (SFDA), Integrated Rural Development Programme (IRDP) were launched with credit as the main apparatus for their accomplishment. New institutions like RRBs and NABARD were formed to facilitate increased supply of formal credit to agriculture and pass on added plunge to agricultural rural development. The opening of remarkable rural branches of commercial banks helped not only in spreading out of rural credit but also enlistment of rural savings. The professional money lenders had nearly gone from the villages and the role of informal credit has decreased noticeably. Since credit is one of the vital inputs for agricultural development. It capitalizes farmers to commence and implement new technologies. The paper is an attempt to analyze the performance of the financial institutions in loan disbursement to agriculture sector in India for the period

Author : Nivrutti Joshi |
Abstract | Full Text |
Abstract :A standout amongst the most prevalently talked about but many-a-period questionable figure of Indian governmental issues is Mahatma Gandhi. There is not really any zone in the pre or post-freedom period that he had left untrammeled for Indian advancement and autonomy. He is such a socio-political
figure who is scarcely unthinkable for somebody to overlook or disregard. He has affected each part of human awareness and there is not really any teach that he has left uncommented. He is a massive wellspring of keeping in touch with himself and has affected diverse orders and a lot of authors from various fields like history, legislative issues, rationality, writing, human science etcetera, have him as their focal subjects. While considering on various books on Gandhiji, particularly the then Gandhian Indian English Literature, one can without much of a stretch sense that the then time was terribly involved by a Gandhian cognizances socially, socially and politically, at any rate in the period from 1918-1922 in the counter provincial against the British. There are vicarious investigations and research works that Mr. Gandhi has found is as yet ending up into; yet perusing a portion of the essential books and experiencing certain marvel, I for one feel that the connection
between Indian English Literature and Gandhiji is still left untold at certain authentic, social and social finishes thus I might want to make a humble endeavor in re-developing the Mahatma in the light of the then Indian English Literature. |
